Incidental Findings in Prostate above the Age of 50 Years in Autopsy of 100 Cases

Background: Autopsy study is used to disclose many hidden prostatic pathologies and their incidence. Thecurrent aims evaluate the histopathological pattern of lesions such as nodular hyperplasia ofthe prostate, precancerous lesions, latent cancer in autopsy series males over age 50 correlatethem with age.Methods: The present was a prospective carried out pathology department, afteren bloc harvestation prostate gland from autopsies men aged more than years by forensic team ofGovernment Medical College Patiala.Results: Age ranges 51-90 mean 58.57 ± 8.11years. weight glandranged 18 42 grams 27.01 3.34g. Benign commonpathological finding (79%), 38 cases chronic non-specific prostatitis, 3 acute prostatitis 4 caseswere associated intraepithelial neoplasia. Prostatic adenocarcinoma detected 9 cases.Conclusions: shows that normal gains advancing age. majority ofcases are 6th decade, benign most common lesion encountered
